Christine Antoinette Charlotte Desmares (1682 – 12 September 1753), professionally known as Mlle Desmares, was a French stage actress. Scion of a notable comic actor family, she had an active stage career that spanned three decades, performing with the Comédie-Française from 1699 until her retirement in 1721; she was also remembered as a mistress of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, Regent of France.

Philippe d’Orléans, couramment appelé le Régent, né le à Saint-Cloud et mort le à Versailles, est le régent du royaume de France pendant la minorité de Louis XV.
Petit-fils de Louis XIII, il est le fils du frère cadet de Louis XIV, Philippe de France, duc d’Orléans, dit « Monsieur ». D'abord duc de Chartres, il devient duc d'Orléans à la mort de son père en 1701 ; il est aussi duc de Valois, duc de Nemours et duc de Montpensier.
À la mort de Louis XIV, il devient régent, et son gouvernement, qui dure de 1715 jusqu'à sa mort en 1723, est appelé la Régence.
Il est l'arrière-arrière-grand-père de Louis-Philippe Ier, qui est le dernier roi ayant régné en France.

Louis, Grand Dauphin
Louis, Dauphin of France (1 November 1661 – 14 April 1711), commonly known as le Grand Dauphin, was the eldest son of King Louis XIV and his spouse, Maria Theresa of Spain and heir apparent to the French throne. He became known as the Grand Dauphin after the birth of his own son, Louis, Duke of Burgundy, the Petit (little) Dauphin. Both of them died before King Louis XIV and thus never became king. Instead, the Grand Dauphin's grandson became King Louis XV at the death of Louis XIV, and his second son inherited the Spanish throne as Philip V through his grandmother, founding the Spanish Bourbon line.
